The Sheldon Family of Wheatley
The Sheldon Family of Wheatley come from a long line of blacksmiths, father and son. Although living in Wheatley they would have worshipped at the nearby parish church of Cuddesdon .
There are at least three instances of a Sheldon marrying a Munt:
Thomas Munt marrying Elizabeth Munt in St Ebbes, Oxford in 1810
Robert Sheldon marrying Rachel Munt in Cuddesdon in 1843;
Charles Sheldon marrying Ellen Munt in Cuddesdon in 1855;
The Sheldons appear as witnesses to Munt marriages:
John Sheldon as a witness to the marriage in Cuddesdon of Isaac Munt and Elizabeth Bradbury in 1765;
Joseph Sheldon as a witness to the marriage in Cuddesdon of Solomon Munt and Mary Harper in 1809;
John Sheldon as a witness to the marriage in Cuddesdon of Charles Sheldon and Ellen Munt in 1855
I believe Thomas Sheldon who married Elizabeth Munt in 1810 to be the father of both Robert and Charles Sheldon. All of his children were born in Wheatley and his wife died in Wheatley in 1863.Robert and Charles married two sisters, al be it 12 years apart. Both Rachel Munt and Ellen (Eleanor) were the daughters of Isaac Munt and Martha Akers.
